-Ayyuhâl ‘âchiqu ma‘nâ husninâ
Mahrunâ ghâlin liman yakhtubunâ
Jasadun mudnân wa rûhun fîl ‘anâ
Wa jufûnun lâ tadhûqul wasanâ
Wa fu-âdun laysa fîhi ghayrunâ
Fa -idhâ mâ chi-ta -addi ththamanâ
Wa fna -in chi-ta fanâ-an sarmadân
Fal fanâ yudnî -ilâ dhâkal finâ
Wâ khla‘i nna‘layni -in ji-ta -ilâ
Dhâlikal hayyî fa fîhi qudsunâ
Wa ‘anil kawnayni kun munkhali‘an
Wa -azil mâ baynanâ min bayninâ
Wa -idhâ qîla lî man tahwâ faqul

Mâ -arâ nafsiya -illâ -antumu
Wa ‘tiqâdî -annakum -antum -anâ

Laysati ddunyâ li hayyin watanâ

Nahnu rûhâni halalnâ badanâ
‘Unsurul -anfâsi fînâ wâhidun
Wa kadhâl -ajsâmu jismun ‘ammanâ
English translation

Lâ -ilâha -illâ Llâh Allâh Allâh
Lâ -ilâha -illâ Llâh jûd ‘alaynâ
O you who yearn for Our Excellence
Our bride-price is high for him who seeks Our hand
A wearied body, a soul in travail
Eyelids that never taste sleep
No room, in the depths of the being, for other than Us
Such is the ransom to be paid by him who would woo!
Annihilate yourself in an everlasting extinction
For it shall lead you to the Garden!
Cast off your sandals on the threshold of Our Abode
Wherein dwells Our absolute Holiness
Detach yourself from the two worlds
Remove what stands between Us!
And if you are asked about the One for whom you burn with love, reply:
« I am the One I love, and the One I love is me! »
I am for God and through God I am
This world can be no dwelling!
Seeing myself, I see only You; convinced that You are I
The substance of all souls is but One within Us
Like all bodies gathered into a single one!
