Dhikr
The remembrance of God: the repetition of sacred formulas, individually or collectively, at the heart of Sufi practice.
The Arabic word dhikr means ‘remembrance’, ‘mention’ and ‘repetition’. In Sufism it denotes the spiritual exercise of repeating certain formulas drawn from the Qur’an, individually under one’s breath or collectively aloud.
