Fes Festival of Sufi Culture: 16th edition (April 2024)
From 20 to 27 April 2024, the 16th edition of the Festival of Sufi Culture was held in Fes.
This emblematic event celebrates the richness and depth of Sufi culture, with talks, concerts, exhibitions, and sacred songs from different Sufi brotherhoods, including the Tariqa Boutchichiya.
The theme of this edition: “Know thyself”. Long after the legacy of the Greek philosophers, the Sufi master Rumi (thirteenth century) said on this subject: “If knowledge does not make your ‘self’ disappear for you, ignorance is better than such knowledge.”
The scheduled talks
- Politicising spirituality or spiritualising politics: what wisdom for our time?
- Caring for the soul
- Ibn ’Arabi and Rumi, a permanent dialogue
- What is the human soul?
- The different degrees of the nafs
- Transhumanism: what place for spirituality?
- Joha (Nasr al-Din), the strength of humour
Among the speakers at the festival were Bruno Guiderdoni, Éric Geoffroy, Faouzi Skali, Denis Gril and Sylvie Cady, among other figures of the contemporary Sufi world taking part in the round tables and talks.
The edition could also be followed on the festival’s social networks (Facebook and Instagram), with interviews and daily recordings made on site.
